Kia Scherr's husband Alan and their 13-year-old daughter Naomi were killed in the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India in November 2008. Instead of reacting with anger, Kia stunned the world when she said the terrorists should be shown love, compassion and forgiveness. In doing so, Kia compelled us all to ask ourselves whether we too could forgive people who murdered our loved ones. Out of the grief Kia has found hope and healing, and has cofounded a nonprofit organization called One Life Alliance dedicated to peace, unity and the sacredness of life. Kia serves as president. She has been a meditation teacher for more than thirty years. Previously she served as the national executive council member for the Synchronicity Foundation, directing hundreds of people through meditation retreats as a coordinator, presenter and mentor.
